Job Description: Forex Manager – Chemical Company

Position: Forex Manager

Department: Finance & Treasury

Location: Ahmedabad

Reporting To: Finance Head / CFO

Job Summary

The Forex Manager will be responsible for managing all foreign exchange transactions, currency risk exposure, import-export payments, hedging strategies, and banking relationships for the company. The role requires close coordination with procurement, sales, logistics, and finance teams to optimize foreign currency costs and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Foreign Exchange Management

Monitor daily foreign exchange market movements and currency trends.

Execute forex transactions including spot, forward, swap, and hedging contracts.

Develop and implement forex risk management strategies.

Analyze currency exposure arising from imports, exports, and overseas transactions.

Treasury & Banking Operations

Coordinate with banks for forex bookings, remittances, and trade finance facilities.

Negotiate competitive exchange rates and banking charges.

Manage Letters of Credit (LCs), Bank Guarantees (BGs), and foreign remittances.

Maintain relationships with banks, financial institutions, and forex dealers.

Import & Export Documentation

Ensure timely processing of import and export payments.

Review shipping documents, LC documents, and trade finance paperwork.

Coordinate with logistics, procurement, and commercial teams for forex-related transactions.

Ensure compliance with RBI, FEMA, and other regulatory guidelines.

Risk Management & Compliance

Monitor foreign currency exposure and recommend hedging strategies.

Prepare forex exposure reports and management dashboards.

Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and statutory regulations.

Stay updated on changes in forex regulations and international trade policies.

Reporting & Analysis

Prepare monthly forex gain/loss analysis.

Forecast foreign currency requirements and cash flow planning.

Generate MIS reports related to forex transactions, hedging positions, and exposure management.

Support annual audits and statutory compliance requirements.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Commerce, Economics, or related field.

MBA (Finance), CA, CMA, or equivalent qualification preferred.

Certification in Treasury or Forex Management will be an added advantage.

Experience

5–10 years of experience in Forex, Treasury, or International Trade Finance.

Experience in the Chemical, Petrochemical, or Manufacturing industry preferred.

Strong understanding of import-export operations and international trade documentation.

Skills Required

Expertise in forex markets and hedging instruments.

Knowledge of FEMA, RBI regulations, and international trade finance.

Strong analytical and financial modeling skills.

Proficiency in ERP systems, Excel, and treasury management software.

Excellent negotiation and communication skills.

Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple transactions simultaneously.

Accuracy of forex forecasting and reporting.
